silly string thing!
~ about him ~
Mr. String is a character from the HBO Kids show A Little Curious. Clearly, he is a piece of blue yarn.
I like Mr. String for a multitude of reasons. His design is simple yet clever, being only made of a continuous line. Because of this, one can draw him in a single stroke! He also has the ability to shapeshift. He uses this ability when he's spiraling or trying to copy something he's fascinated with. It's fun watching the latter since it gives him a playfulness to his character.
Mr String's most notable character trait is his neuroticism, hence why I mentioned his spiraling in the previous paragraph. It happens so often that there are two songs about how much of a nervous wreck he is. Fortunately, he is never ridiculed or made lesser for this and is mostly treated as a quirk. I personally find a lot of comfort in Mr. String as someone who struggles with anxiety. Whenever he catastrophizes and draws absurd conclusions, it's a reminder that sometimes the brain isn't rational. It can make up stupid shit and freak you out.
~ songs ~
Mr. String has 3 character songs. As mentioned before, two of them are about his anxiety. They're called "He's Jumpy!" and "Ohh Boyy!/Nervous Wreck". The third song is "Doin' the Thin Thing", where he demonstrates his physical capabilities. "He's Jumpy" is my favorite out of the three because it sounds like a better version of "Nervous Wreck." "Doin' the Thin Thing" is a close second because he sounds happy during this one and you know what? Good for him.
I want to conclude this page with this clip from the last episode. Basically, Bob the Ball asks Mr. String if there's life in space. Mr. String then gets overwhelmed at the possibility that there is but calms down when he suggests that there isn't. With this, he makes peace with the fact that he may never know, whether or not there's life out there.
~8J~ <-- this is my mr. string emoticon, btw.
